Disrupting the Cycle: The YouBall Youth Justice & Stabilization Hub
YouBall is more than a basketball program; we are a permanent stabilization anchor for the Second Supervisorial District. Our Hub specifically targets high-need corridors in South LA, Compton, and Inglewood to bridge the ‘Summer Gap’—the critical window when unsupervised idle time leads to increased risk for justice-system involvement.
Our Evidence-Based Approach
1. The Laboratory
We treat elite basketball as a “laboratory” for trauma-informed development, replacing street-level hierarchies with an accountable, disciplined team ecosystem.
2. Individual Success Plans (ISPs)
Every participant undergoes our signature 10-Week Combine, tracking quantitative physical data alongside qualitative growth in The 5 C’s: Commitment, Communication, Concentration, Control, and Confidence.
3. Academic Contingency
Participation in our elite training is strictly contingent on academic excellence. We disrupt the school-to-prison pipeline by navigating student-athletes into prestigious institutions like Loyola, Crossroads, and Campbell Hall.
4. Credible Messenger Mentorship
Our 1:6 coach-to-youth ratio ensures every athlete is guided by a mentor who has ‘gone down this path,’ providing the relatable blueprint needed for emotional regulation and long-term resilience.
